Job summary

Amrize Canada Inc. is seeking a Maintenance/Labourer for the Portable Crushing team in the Ottawa area. You will perform daily maintenance on conveyors, crushers, screens, wash plants and related mobile equipment, following Amrize’s best practices and safety policies.

The role requires shift work (Days/Afternoons/Nights) and occasional weekend work, with travel as needed for portable plants. A high school diploma, valid driver’s license, and basic safety certifications are expected.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Valid Driver’s license.
  • Industrial plant operation/maintenance experience is an asset.
  • Heavy equipment operation experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Promote safety culture and ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
  • Maintain conveyors, crushers, screens, wash plants and related equipment.
  • Perform repairs and adjustments to equipment to ensure efficiency.
  • Travel with portable plants as needed and work shift schedules (days/afternoons/nights).
  • Support housekeeping and safety initiatives on site.

About the Role

As a member of the Portable Crushing team, the Maintenance/Labourer is responsible for the daily maintenance activity and management for their specific area. The Maintenance position will execute the daily tasks required to maintain the conveyors, crushers, screens, wash plants, and related mobile equipment in accordance with Amrize’s Best Practices and Policies. The incumbent will implement internal processes and controls to drive maintenance efficiency and cost optimization while ensuring worker/contractor safety through compliance with Amrize and Provincial Safety legislation, policies, and procedures. This position requires shift work (Days/Afternoons/Nights) and occasional weekend work. You will also be required to travel with the portable plants as needed.

What You’ll Accomplish
  • Promote safety culture through engagement with employees, subcontractors, and suppliers, with an objective of “zero” safety incidents.
  • Administer and promote safety policies, processes, and review procedures to ensure that the site meets or exceeds all Amrize and Regulatory guidelines.
  • Report and manage environmental spills to site management as they occur.
  • Operate equipment effectively to minimize the carbon footprint of machinery.
  • Ensure equipment is operated to original equipment manufacturer guidelines and industry best practices.
  • Perform adjustments and clean up on equipment to ensure it runs efficiently.
  • Perform repair on equipment as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to assist in the efficient operation of the site.
  • Perform general housekeeping tasks to ensure the site is presentable
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviours.
What We’re Looking For
  • Education: High School Diploma
  • Valid Driver’s license
  • Required Work Experience:
  • Industrial plant operation/maintenance experience an asset.
  • Heavy equipment operation experience an asset.

Additional Requirements:
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
