Job summary

Magellan Aerospace, Winnipeg has an exciting full-time opportunity for a Lab Technologist at our Rockwood Propellant Plant, located about 20 minutes north of Winnipeg near Stony Mountain, MB. The role focuses on supporting chemical and mechanical testing in a fast-paced laboratory environment.

The successful candidate will hold a Diploma in Chemical Technology, bring lab experience, and be proficient with Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Chemical Technology or equivalent.
• Previous laboratory experience will be considered an asset.
• Experience with Microsoft Office products.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support chemical and mechanical testing of raw ingredients and energetic products.
• Perform chemical analysis using wet chemistry or instrumental methods (HPLC, GC, FTIR).
• Conduct physical properties analyses (tensile, viscosity, gravimetric, particle size).
• Maintain quality records for laboratory test processes.
• Develop and maintain up-to-date procedures for laboratory test processes and equipment calibrations.
• Ensure safe operation and maintenance of lab equipment.
• Assist in running the Rockwood laboratory: order supplies, clean, schedule calibrations.
• Maintain the Rockwood SDS system.

Position Summary

Magellan Aerospace, Winnipeg has an exciting career opportunity for a full-time Lab Technologist at our Rockwood Propellant Plant. The Rockwood facility is located just 20 minutes North of Winnipeg, near Stony Mountain, MB.

Positions Responisbilities

• Supporting the chemical and mechanical testing of incoming raw ingredients and in-process energetic products in support of Rockwood production, including:
• Chemical analysis by traditional wet chemistry and/or instrumental methods, such as HPLC, GC, and FTIR.
• Physical properties analysis such as tensile strength testing, viscosity and gravimetric testing, and particle size characterization.
• Maintaining quality records in support of laboratory test processes.
• Developing, documenting, and maintaining up-to-date procedures for laboratory test processes and equipment calibrations.
• Ensuring that the set-up, operation, and maintenance of required lab equipment is completed in a safe and efficient manner.
• Assisting in the operation of the Rockwood laboratory by maintaining instruments, ordering supplies, cleaning, organizing, and scheduling calibration of equipment.
• Maintaining the Rockwood SDS system.
