About Us

Myo Palate is a biotechnology company developing sustainable meat products. We nurture cells to make meat, instead of growing the entire animal.

We are seeking a lab technician to contribute to our success by supporting our researchers at all levels by maintaining stem cell cultures, performing molecular assays (PCR, immunostaining, and etc), maintaining bioreactors, ordering and managing inventories of lab supplies, coordinating equipment maintenance and installation, providing safety and technical training, and contributing to continuous improvements in laboratory practices and protocols. A significant requirement for this position is to maintain lab operations during weekends. This position will have a shifted schedule that covers weekends.

The successful candidate will be detail oriented, dedicated, and passionate about their work. The position will also require proper documentation of the results, being well organized and flexibility in working with other members of the team. The candidate will also be expected to learn rapidly and acquire new schools, growing with the company.

Responsibilities

  • Routinely handle mammalian cell cultures including stable cell line maintenance, passaging, feeding, freezing and thawing cells.
  • Bioreactor cleaning, sterilization, sampling, and handling.
  • Maintain cell stocks and freezer inventories.
  • Prepare, label and make aliquots of common lab reagents.
  • Keep detailed laboratory records and generate experiment reports.
  • Collect samples and perform basic molecular characterization (e.g., RNA purification, PCR, immunostaining).
  • Adhere to all applicable SOP’s, safety and good laboratory practices.
  • Collaborate with senior scientists on assay development.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in life sciences, cell biology, biotechnology, or a related field.
  • Able to learn hands-on biology laboratory techniques.
  • Collaborative and willing to work closely with other members of the research team.
  • A high degree of motivation, reliability, and independence.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Competency in written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to quickly learn new skills.
  • Dedication to completing tasks.
  • Ability to work on weekends.

Preferred

  • Pluripotent stem cell culturing experience.
  • Demonstrated molecular characterization experience.
  • Familiarity with statistical computing (e.g., R, Python) and command-line tools.
