Job summary

48Hour Discovery seeks a Lab Technician to plan and execute molecular biology assays, including biopanning of phage-display libraries and cloning. You will support project progress, develop procedures from project specs, and assist with NGS samples and data analysis.

Qualifications

About the role

The Lab Technician will be responsible for planning and executing molecular and some cellular biology assays, including protein and cell biopanning of phage-display libraries, cloning, and biochemical modifications. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting project progress, assisting with the development and optimization of procedures based on project specifications, and providing NGS support. The role also involves supporting senior staff through data analysis and routine lab maintenance.

Duties

• Biopanning of phage-display libraries on protein and cells
• Perform biochemical modifications of phage-display libraries
• Independently plan and execute experiments according to given deadlines
• Bacterial strain maintenance and electrocompetent cell generation
• Assist with NGS sample prep
• Buffer preparation, autoclaving, and general lab maintenance
• Experimental data generation, analysis and packaging
• Assisting with inventory tracking and procurement
• Other molecular assays as needed

Qualifications

• BSc in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, or related field with at least one year of experience in an academic research or industry setting required
• Demonstrated experience independently performing PCR/qPCR, agarose gel electrophoresis, and some cloning associated procedures
• Experience working with peptides/peptide based chemistry considered an asset
• Strong ability to independently plan and execute experiments while upholding deadlinesPrior cloning experience considered an assetStrong data analysis, time management, and organizational skillsExperience using SnapGene, R, and MS Office Suite considered an asset
