Job summary

Yukon Hospital Corporation is seeking a Laboratory Assistant for Whitehorse General Hospital. The role involves administering blood and urine sampling, ECGs, holter monitors, and pulmonary function tests, as well as specimen dispatch and receipt from referral labs.

Certification as a Medical Laboratory Assistant is required, with CPR, TDG and ECG interpretation certifications either in place or to be obtained within six months of hire; prior health-care experience is an asset.

Qualifications

• Certification as Medical Laboratory Assistant with an accredited program.
• CPR, TDG and ECG interpretation certifications are required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
• Previous employment in a health care setting would be an asset.

Responsibilities

• Administers out-patient and in-patient blood and urine sampling, ECGs, Holter monitors, and pulmonary function tests.
• Prepares and dispatches specimens to referral laboratories; receives specimens from Health Centers.
• Performs clerical duties and other related tasks.
