Job summary

Vital Bio is seeking a meticulous bench scientist to own QC and calibration across multiple analyzers in a fast-paced clinical lab setting. You will define control materials, review QC data, and make acceptance or rejection decisions, documenting investigations and determining impact on results.

You will also support method validation, instrument qualification, and biobank management. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, ensure adherence to CLSI protocols, and provide backup

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in life sciences, biochemistry, medical laboratory science or related field.
• Two+ years hands-on experience operating clinical chemistry, immunoassay or hematology analyzers.
• Experience with QC materials, control data interpretation and investigation of out-of-control results.
• Experience performing and documenting instrument calibration.
• Familiarity with CLSI method evaluation protocols and QC review processes.
• Phlebotomy certification or equivalent, willing to venipuncture and capillary collections.
• Experience with biobanking, sample inventory and study specimen handling.
• Experience in SOPs in regulated environments with detailed documentation.
• Proficiency in MS Office or Google Workspace; LIS/eQMS knowledge is a plus.
• Strong organization, written communication, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Own the laboratory QC program: define materials, levels, frequency and acceptance criteria for each assay.
• Make QC acceptance/rejection decisions and investigate out-of-control results.
• Perform and document calibration across all analyzers on schedules and triggers.
• Run patient and study samples on the analyzer fleet and review results against QC status.
• Release routine results and escalate exceptions to Clinical Lead before release.
• Execute method validation and verification studies per approved protocols.
• Prepare samples, dilutions and admixtures per protocol and review study data for run quality.
• Escalate deviations with complete, traceable raw data and study conditions.
• Support installation, qualification of newly installed analyzers.
• Lead troubleshooting discussions with vendor support when needed.
• Direct QC execution by clinical lab technicians and ensure adherence to procedures.
• Contribute to protocol and SOP development and revision.
• Author study reports summarizing methods, data, results and conclusions.
• Provide backup phlebotomy and specimen processing when required.
• Manage biobank intake, storage, inventory and disposition of samples.
• Assist Assay Development with bench work and instrument time scheduling.
• Adhere to code of conduct and laboratory safety practices.
