LifeLabs Medical Laboratory Services is seeking a Lab Patient Technician in Ontario as a part‑time regular role. Responsibilities include collecting specimens, performing phlebotomy and ECG tracing, and handling various test collections with attention to patient privacy and data accuracy.

The position requires a Laboratory Assistant program background, good communication, typing speed, and strong customer service. Vaccinations may be required where applicable.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
• Phlebotomy experience is an asset.
• ECG training or experience is an asset.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Good computer skills with a minimum typing speed of 40 wpm.
• Strong customer/patient service ability to relate to patients and clients even in stressful situations.
• Strong empathy, flexibility, adaptability to change, and problem solving skills.
• Ability to maintain the strictest standards of patient privacy and confidentiality.

Lab Patient Technician

Status: Part‑Time Regular

Schedule: Hours and schedule may vary based on operational needs from Monday‑Friday 7:45‑5:30

Number of positions: Multiple

Responsibilities

• Greet and request required information from patients, explain the specimen collection process, and ensure patients have followed necessary test protocol prior to specimen collection.
• Perform phlebotomies, connect/disconnect holter monitors, and perform ECG tracings.
• Perform special test collections, such as medical/legal drug screens, paternity tests, and clinical trials, and complete related documentation.
• Maintain client relationships, including responding to inquiries and following up on requests.
• Complete data entry of required patient demographics, requisition information, and other information related to processing test results.
• Prepare specimens for transportation and testing.
