LifeLabs Medical Laboratory Services, a proud Canadian company with over 50 years of experience, is seeking a Lab Patient Technician to join our team in St Catharines, ON (3460 Schmon Pkwy).

As a Lab Patient Technician, you will be responsible for the specimen collection process, from greeting patients to preparing specimens for transportation. This important role impacts patient care and our business, providing you with the opportunity to make a difference in patients’ lives. This is a part-time role suitable for individuals with a flexible schedule and includes the opportunity to pick up additional shifts at other LifeLabs locations.

This position is part-time, working up to 20 hours per week. The successful candidate must be flexible 7 days a week and have a vehicle.

In this role, you will:

  • Greet patients, request required information, explain the specimen collection process, and ensure adherence to test protocols.
  • Perform phlebotomies, connect/disconnect holter monitors, and perform ECG tracings.
  • Handle special test collections, such as drug screens, paternity tests, and clinical trials, and complete related documentation.
  • Maintain client relationships, respond to inquiries, and follow up on requests.
  • Enter patient demographics, requisition information, and other data accurately.
  • Prepare specimens for transportation and testing.

The ideal candidate will prioritize excellent customer/patient service and be able to relate to patients and clients, even in stressful situations. Key qualities include: empathy, flexibility, adaptability to change, and problem-solving skills. Other requirements are:

  • Graduate of an approved Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
  • Good computer skills with a minimum typing speed of 40 wpm.
  • Ability to maintain strict patient privacy and confidentiality.

Hiring Range: $24.02 - $28.05

The final salary will be determined based on experience, education, market conditions, and internal equity.
