Responsibilities:
- Ensuring that laboratory personnel are given adequate training, either by training directly or assigning training responsibilities.
- Supervising directly or ensuring supervision of laboratory personnel.
- Providing recognition and constructive feedback as needed to ensure that employees fully understand their responsibilities. Performing laboratory personnel performance evaluations.
- Building an enthusiastic team committed to service excellence.
- Ensuring safety procedures are followed and employees are appropriately trained in laboratory safety.
- Testing Production: Overseeing sample flow in the laboratory. Ensuring turn-around-times are not exceeded and establishing sample testing priorities.
- Verifying the accuracy and completeness of in-progress paperwork and analytical data.
- Ensuring adherence to ASTM, IEC/Cigre, and internally developed testing procedures and protocols and making necessary modifications for the analysis of difficult sample matrices.
- Preparing and updating current laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and related quality documentation.
- Ensuring that test data is entered and analytical reports are generated in a timely and accurate manner as needed.
- Ensuring that completed test reports are reviewed for accuracy prior to release to customers.
- Ensuring that appropriate laboratory supplies are available for use.
- Providing intra-lab and inter-lab quality control review for analytical tests and making appropriate corrective actions as needed.
- Supervising the sub-contracting of tests, and the preparation and compilation of reports for clients.
- Managing special projects as required.
- Installing, calibrating, repairing and maintaining equipment as required.
- Providing technical and troubleshooting support for testing and equipment maintenance.
- Serving as the Company’s representative to the lab employees, communicating and enforcing company policies, assisting with problem solving between employees and senior management.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field and/or equivalent experience and 8 years of experience.
- Must be able to work safely and adhere to all safety procedures.
- Proven leadership and mentoring skills.
- Able to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Able to work with various people throughout the organization.

- Focused on accuracy and efficiency.
Additional Information:
Travel: 0 to 5%
Physical Demands: Lifting a maximum of 50lbs on a daily basis. Position requires standing and using computer and/or phone for extended periods of time.
