Job Summary

Responsible for maintaining a constant inventory of clean laboratory glassware and a clean wash-up area. Prepare sanitizing and cleaning agents. Support the Microbiology laboratory as required, including autoclaving waste and preparing microbiological media according to current procedures.

Job Responsibilities

1. Collect used glassware from laboratory, sort, and prepare for washing.
2. Ensure labels are removed from glassware before washing.
3. Load and operate glassware washer/dryer according to SOPs/WIs.
4. Check glassware for cleanliness before restocking in storage areas. Maintain inventory of clean glassware and supplies.
5. Inspect glassware for breakage or etching; discard damaged items.
6. Operate waste autoclave safely according to SOPs.
7. Follow all SOPs, GLP, and compliance requirements.
8. Maintain knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices and computer skills as needed.
9. Ensure all relevant SOPs, WIs, and SWPs are followed for safe handling of glassware and reagents/waste.
10. Clean incubators, fridges, benches, and document activities as per procedures. Review cleaning logs.
11. Clean laminar flow cabinets and replace filters as per procedures.
12. Transfer waste to Hazmat area regularly and complete disposal reports.
13. Prepare and maintain log books.
14. Work effectively as part of a team, sharing knowledge.
15. Support corporate values in all tasks.
16. Act as a backup to the Chemistry Lab Assistant.
17. Ensure compliance with GMP, GLP, and regulatory standards.
18. Comply with Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act, Canadian Biosafety Guidelines, and company policies.
19. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education
