Job summary

PTI Transformers is seeking an L1 Wiring Assembler to install conduit and control wiring for transformers and mobile substations. You will join a team under supervision to set up wiring, mount control cabinets, and prep units for FAT testing and shipping.

The role emphasizes methodical wiring, adherence to standards, and collaboration in a manufacturing environment with opportunities to learn drawings and schematics. Local applicants with Canadian work eligibility are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Clear communication both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret drawings, sketches, schematics and specs.
  • Mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity.
  • Basic math knowledge for controls (add/sub/mul/div, whole numbers, fractions, decimals).
  • Basic knowledge of hand and power tool use.
  • Computer literacy is an asset.
  • Experience in industrial wiring is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Kitting – ensure required parts are requested in a timely manner for production requirements.
  • Layout and assemble conduit installation on power transformer and Mobile Substation.
  • Verify and mount control cabinet per best practices.
  • Conduit planning and installation meeting standards (including external wiring).
  • Wire terminations using best practices and proper tooling.
  • Assist wiring on transformers and mobile substations for FAT and controls test.
  • Assist with disconnecting wiring during tank cover removal after unit failure.
  • Prepare unit for painting and shipping.

Job description

Reporting to the Supervisor, Wiring Department, the L1 Wiring Assembler is responsible for installing all electrical conduit and control wiring to various devices required on the transformer, under supervision and guidance.

Role Responsibilities
  • Kitting – ensure required parts are requested in a timely manner for production requirements.
  • Performing all tasks related to the layout and assembly of conduit installation on power transformer and Mobile Substation.
  • Verifying and mounting of control cabinet utilizing best practices as required.
  • Completing conduit planning and installation – ensuring all standards are met (including external wiring) using best practices.
  • Wire terminations utilizing best practices and proper tooling.
  • Assisting the team with wiring on power transformers and mobile substations for Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and controls test.
  • Assisting with disconnecting all wiring associated with tank cover removal upon unit failure
  • Prepare unit for painting and shipping
Job Requirements
  • Effectively communicate both orally and in writing, and work in a team environment
  • Ability to learn how to read, understand, and interpret drawings, sketches, schematic interpretations and engineering specification blueprints
  • Mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity
  • Basic mathematics knowledge for controls (ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals)
  • Basic knowledge of hand and power tool use
  • Computer literacy would be an asset
  • Experience in industrial wiring, is an asset
