Northern Transformer Corporation is a Canadian-owned, fast-growing manufacturer of power and mobile transformers in Maple, Vaughan, Ontario. We seek a Pipefitter/Tanking Technician with mechanical background to join our team and assemble and tank transformer components.

The role requires reading drawings, using hand/power tools, and operating safety equipment in a structured manufacturing environment. Competitive wage, benefits, and a modern workplace are offered.

Qualifications

  • Minimum two years’ experience in manufacturing.
  • Ability to communicate in English (spoken, read/write).
  • Ability to read drawings and understand 2D/3D sketches.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Good manual dexterity; lift heavy materials.
  • Proficient in using hand and power tools.

Responsibilities

  • Read drawings and specs to perform final assembly and tanking.
  • Measure, cut, thread and bend pipe using hand/power tools.
  • Weld, braze, cement, solder and thread joints to join pipes.
  • Install supports, valves, piping and controls.
  • Test piping for leaks with appropriate equipment.
  • Plan and implement solutions with supervisor’s guidance.
  • Complete work within expected timeframes.
  • Work safely with PPE and follow company policies.
  • Prepare transformer active parts for tanking and check components.
  • Install and align active parts into transformer tanks.

Pipefitter/Tanking Technician, Manufacturing

Due to the growth of our business, we have opening Tanking Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have mechanical background, proficient in using hand, power and measuring tools.

Major Areas of Responsibility
  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications to perform final assembly and tanking activities.
  • Measure, cut, thread and bend pipe to required shape using hand and power tools.
  • Weld, braze, cement, solder and thread joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of piping system.
  • Install supports, valves, piping and controls systems.
  • Test piping for leaks using testing equipment.
  • Plan and implement solutions to mechanical problems with Supervisor’s help.
  • Complete work within expected periods of time.
  • Work safely, using all safety equipment supplied.
  • Communicate well with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Complete shop records accurately.
  • Follow all general company policies.
  • Preparation of transformer active parts for tanking, including verification of core, coils, lead routing, clamping systems, and insulation clearances prior to enclosure.
  • Installation and alignment of active parts into transformer tanks using overhead cranes, rigging equipment, and precision lifting procedures to avoid mechanical stress or damage.
  • Installation of accessories and internal components, such as bushings, Current Transformers, tap changers, radiators, internal leads, supports, valves, gauges and grounding systems.
  • Interpretation of bill of materials, and tanking procedures, ensuring correct configuration by transformer rating and customer specification.
  • Installation of high and low voltage oil filled bushings requiring strong understanding of electrical safety and transformer construction.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum two years’ experience in manufacturing.
  • Ability to communicate in English (spoken, read/write)
  • Perform work based on general manufacturing instructions.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal technical direction and supervision.
  • Ability to read drawings and understand 2D & 3D sketches.
  • Ability to complete repetitive tasks, with good hand-eye co-ordination.
  • Manual dexterity, work from heights and ability to stand for extended periods.
  • General use of hand and power tools.
  • Climb ladders, bend, stoop, kneel, and lift minimal to heavy materials.
  • Forklift and/or overhead crane operation experience an asset.
Working Hours:

Day Shift: Monday to Thursday 7am - 4pm, Friday 7am - 1pm

Afternoon Shift: Monday to Thursday 4pm-2:30am

Salary:

$25.08-$28.72
