Job summary

Four Alarm Fire Services Ltd. in Calgary, Alberta is seeking a Kitchen Suppression Inspection Technician to inspect, test, and service pre-engineered commercial kitchen suppression systems.

You will work on-site with restaurant staff to ensure NFPA 17A compliance and document results using mobile software. The ideal candidate has experience with kitchen suppression brands, is mechanically inclined, and will pursue the required training.

Qualifications

• Willingness to complete a certified Kitchen Suppression Technician course or manufacturer training.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to work safely in confined and commercial kitchen spaces.
• Capable of lifting up to 75 lbs and using ladders or lifts.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and inspection/reporting software.

Responsibilities

• Verify proper system function, conduct discharge tests, and service components as required.

What You’ll Do

As a Kitchen Suppression Technician, your key responsibilities will include:

• Inspecting, testing, and maintaining pre-engineered commercial kitchen suppression systems in accordance with NFPA 17A and manufacturer guidelines.

• Verifying proper system function, conducting discharge tests, and replacing or servicing components as required.

• Completing inspection documentation using mobile software and submitting reports in a timely and professional manner.

• Coordinating with kitchen staff or site contacts to minimize disruption during inspections.

• Educating clients on system operation and maintenance requirements.

• Identifying code compliance issues and recommending corrective actions.

• Reading and interpreting engineered drawings, technical manuals, and schematics.

Qualifications & Skills

Preferred Experience:

• Previous work with commercial kitchen suppression systems (e.g., Pyro-Chem, Amerex, Ansul, Kidde, or similar).

• Experience in the fire protection or mechanical service industries.

Minimum Requirements:

• Willingness to complete (or prior completion of) a certified Kitchen Suppression Technician course or manufacturer training.

• Mechanical aptitude and ability to work safely in confined and commercial kitchen spaces.
