Job summary

Community Fire Prevention Ltd in Victoria is seeking a Kitchen and Special Suppression Technician to join our growing team. You will inspect, test, maintain, repair, upgrade and install kitchen and special suppression systems in restaurants, server rooms, and boats.

The successful candidate has a valid BC Driver's License, strong electrical/electronics/mechanical aptitude, and excellent English communication skills. On-the-job training and company benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Valid BC Driver's License (Drivers Abstract required).
• Manufacturers training considered an asset (but will be provided).
• Strong electrical/electronics/mechanical aptitude.
• Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written).
• Detail oriented and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Annual and semi-annual inspections of special suppression systems following all applicable codes.
• Accurate and timely completion of Electronic Inspection and Deficiency Reports and other documentation.
• Participate in After Hours Emergency On-Call Rotation.
• Maintain open communication with internal and external contacts on inspections, project delays, and status.
• Commit to continual education and training to deliver next-level service.
• Stay up to date with industry standards, product and service changes, and best practices.
• Work towards certification in good standing with relevant safety standards.
• Provide a next level customer experience with clients, suppliers, contractors, and team members.
• Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety protocols and company core values.
• Additional duties as they may arise.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

Community Fire Prevention is looking for a Fire Suppression Technician to join our team full-time. Fire Suppression Technicians are responsible for the inspection, testing, maintenance, repairs, upgrades and installations of kitchen and special suppression systems. Working in environments such as restaurant kitchens, server rooms, and boats you will come across a variety of different types of special suppression systems in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Annual and semi-annual inspections of special suppression systems following all applicable codes. Conduct Repairs and Troubleshooting of Fire and Life Safety Equipment as per the 2024 BC Fire Code and all applicable CAN/ULC and CSA inspections.
• Accurate and timely completion of all Electronic Inspection and Deficiency Reports and other relevant documentation.
• Participate in After Hours Emergency On-Call Rotation.
• Maintain open communication with both internal and external contacts on inspections, project delays, and overall status.
• Commitment to continual education and training in order to deliver next-level service to our valued clients.
• Commitment to staying up to date with industry standards, product and service changes, and industry best practices.
• Work towards certification in good standing with all relevant safety standards.
• Provide a ‘next level’ experience when interacting with customers, suppliers, contractors, and team members.
• Adhere to and embrace the companies Core Values and Occupational Health and Safety protocols.
• Additional duties as they may arise.
