Job summary

Delta St. John's is seeking a Kitchen Helper for an on-site, full-time permanent role at our 403-room hotel. The position involves evenings and weekends, with a comprehensive benefits package including full health coverage and a defined-benefit pension for associates.

Preference given to candidates with culinary certification; valid open work permit required. You will assist in daily food preparation, maintain cleanliness, manage par stocks, and comply with food safety standards, while working

Job description

The Delta St. John's Hotel is a 403 room fast paced, high volume conference hotel. We strive to foster a strong service culture and team environment so that the needs of our guests and associates are met in equal measure.

We are seeking a qualified Kitchen Helper. This is full time permanent position. This position involves evenings & weekends at this time and preference will be given to candidates with culinary certification.

A Valid Open Work permit is required.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
  • To complete assigned work to hotel standards and to ensure area meets Occupational Health & Safety and Sanitation standards;
  • Assists in daily food preparation relevant to the area in which you are assigned
  • Maintains cleanliness of work station;
  • Pre pare and maintain par stock levels
  • Food Safety Certificate an asset
  • Must be able to work with minimum supervision;
  • Must be able to follow quality control of food, accuracy and production requirements.
  • Must be certified with Food Allergy training as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT:
  • Minimum one year Hotel and/or Restaurant experience necessary;
  • Ability to take direction from all levels of supervisory;
  • Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision;
  • Must be well organized, self-motivated;
  • Must be able to handle problems and make sound decisions under pressure;
  • Must demonstrate behavior consistent with core values;
  • Must practice a high level of personal hygiene conducive to a professional cooking environment;
  • Must be a team orientated individual with good interactive skills;
  • Must practice and maintain Delta standards;
