Job summary

Italian Centre Shop – Northland Village in Calgary is hiring a Part-Time Kitchen Helper to support our kitchen team in preparing delicious, high-quality foods while delivering a welcoming customer experience. No previous kitchen experience is required, as we offer training.

You will work in a fast-paced, family-oriented environment with on-site parking, free lunch on most shifts, and opportunities to learn and grow.

Qualifications

• Kitchen experience is an asset but we’re willing to train the right person.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Customer-focused and reliable.
• Able to work in a busy kitchen environment and stand for extended periods.
• Comfortable with physical/repetitive tasks.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and portion food: wash, peel, cut, weigh, season, garnish, plate, and package ingredients and prepared foods.
• Support daily kitchen operations: manage customer orders, prepare food promptly, monitor cooking times and temperatures, assist with oven and stove operations.
• Maintain food safety & quality: take temperatures, follow procedures, store ingredients properly, ensure safe handling of food and equipment.
• Keep the kitchen clean & organized: wash and sanitize utensils, equipment, workstations, and prep areas.
• Deliver great customer service: assist with orders, answer calls, provide friendly service, promote products, and work with the team.

What you’ll do:

Prepare and portion food: Assist Kitchen Cooks with washing, peeling, cutting, weighing, measuring, seasoning, garnishing, plating, and packaging ingredients and prepared foods according to recipes.

Support daily kitchen operations: Help manage customer orders, prepare food in a timely manner, monitor cooking times and temperatures, and assist with oven and stove operations.

Maintain food safety & quality: Take food and storage temperatures, follow food safety procedures, properly store ingredients, and ensure food and equipment are handled safely.

Keep the kitchen clean & organized: Wash and sanitize utensils, equipment, workstations, and food preparation areas while following company cleaning standards.

Deliver great customer service: Assist with customer orders, answer the telephone, provide friendly service, promote our products, and work together with the team to create a positive customer experience.
