Job summary

Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre is seeking a Kinesiologist to support and enhance services within the Long-Term Care facility. The role collaborates with physiotherapists, occupational therapists and the broader care team to provide safe, wholistic, patient-centered care.

The successful candidate will hold a kinesiology degree with eligibility for CKO registration, and will participate in ongoing professional development and team education.

Qualifications

• Degree in kinesiology (Bachelor, or Masters). Master of Professional Kinesiology preferred.
• Registered or eligible for registration within 3 months with the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario (CKO).
• Previous experience in a Long-Term Care setting is preferred.
• Basic computer knowledge/skills required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Ability to collaborate in an interprofessional team environment.
• Knowledge or training in cardiac rehabilitation, exercise physiology, orthopaedic rehab, biomechanics, ergonomics is an asset.
• Willingness to participate in staff and patient development to maintain current knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Assess, treat, educate and manage patients using individual or group sessions.
• Work independently or under guidance from Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists.
• Operate as an independent clinician in line with departmental policies.
• Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives.
• Compile statistical workload data and reports.
• Contribute to staff education within the Long-Term Care facility, including health and safety and infection control.

Reporting to the Manager of ECU and Infection Control, the Kinesiologist will work collaboratively with all members of the interdisciplinary health care team at Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre (SLMHC) to support and enhance the services of the Long-Term Care facility and ensure the provision of safe, wholistic, patient centered care to our clients. The Kinesiologist will work independently and under the guidance of the Physiotherapists and Occupational therapists, in conjunction with departmental policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Job Duties

• Workload includes client care for all designated patients.
• Responsible for the assessment, treatment, education and management of patients utilizing either individual or group sessions.
• Operate as an independent clinician and/or under guidance from the Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists, in conjunction with departmental policies and procedures.
• Participate in and contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives.
• Responsible to compile statistical reports and maintain workload data.
• Participate in and contribute to staff education programs within the Long-Term Care facility, including fire and disaster plans, infection control, health & safety and any future programs.
