Job summary

Star Dance Centre in North York is hiring Kids Dance Instructors for the 2026-2027 season starting September 2026. This is a part-time, in-person teaching role delivering structured, age-appropriate classes for ages 5 to 15 across Hip Hop, K-Pop, and Ballet/Jazz.

Instructors will create weekly lesson plans, develop showcase choreography, track student progress, and maintain a positive classroom environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience teaching dance to children.
• Strong command of Hip Hop, K-Pop, or Ballet/Jazz.
• Ability to build weekly lesson plans and create full showcase choreography independently.
• Communicate with parents and coordinate with studio staff regularly.
• Professional, reliable, and consistent in every class.
• Able to manage a group classroom and adapt to learning needs.

Responsibilities

Star Dance Centre is a professional dance studio steps from Sheppard-Yonge Subway in North York, offering full-year kids programming for children ages 5 to 15. We are hiring Kids Dance Instructors in Hip Hop, K-Pop, and Ballet/Jazz for our 2026-2027 season starting September 2026.

This is a part-time, in-person teaching role. Instructors are responsible for delivering structured, age-appropriate classes each week, building and refining choreography for our Christmas Showcase and Dance on Yonge year-end festival, tracking individual student progress across the season, and maintaining a positive and professional environment for young dancers at every class.

We teach across four age groups: Star Mini (ages 5-6), Star Junior (ages 7-9), Star Youth (ages 10-13), and Star Teen (ages 13-15). Experience teaching more than one age group is an asset.

What we are looking for:

• Minimum 2 years of experience teaching dance to children
• Strong command of at least one of the following styles: Hip Hop, K-Pop, Ballet/Jazz
• Ability to build weekly lesson plans and create full showcase choreography independently
• Comfortable communicating with parents and coordinating with studio staff regularly
• Professional, reliable, and consistent - students and families depend on the same quality every class
• Able to manage a group classroom environment and adapt to different learning needs
• Experience in a dance studio, fitness studio, gym, or school setting is a strong asset
• Must be able to commute to North York reliably
