The Key Account Specialist is responsible for achieving sales targets through sound business planning and strategy execution. This role involves promoting Bayer’s new ophthalmology treatment for wet age-related macular degeneration (wAMD), central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO), and diabetic macular edema (DME). The specialist will develop customer-focused initiatives aligned with our go-to-market model.

This is a permanent position covering the Southwest Ontario and Manitoba territories.

What you will do:
  1. Analyze the business environment and develop territory-specific business plans.
  2. Promote ophthalmology products to retina specialists and related healthcare professionals.
  3. Engage with local patient groups regarding relevant diseases.
  4. Build strong relationships with key ophthalmology stakeholders.
  5. Identify and strategize for key accounts and stakeholders within the territory.
  6. Collaborate with medical affairs to deliver valuable clinic programs and projects.
  7. Support customers in accessing Bayer’s ophthalmology products.
  8. Conduct regional customer education programs, including clinic/staff training and referral audience education.
  9. Invest strategically and monitor results.
  10. Comply with all requirements and Bayer’s code of conduct as per RX&D guidelines.
Who you are:
  • University degree, preferably in Science or Business.
  • At least 4 years of specialty sales experience; ophthalmology experience is a strong asset.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to assess markets and make strategic decisions.
  • Effective communicator of clinical and scientific information.
  • Excellent key account management, project management, and critical thinking skills.
  • Deep understanding of retina specialists’ practices and decision-making processes.
  • Exceptional relationship-building, networking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Customer-service oriented with strong teamwork skills.
  • Proficiency in PC and standard software, including literature searches.
  • Willingness to travel within the assigned territory and beyond as needed.
  • Bilingualism required for Quebec positions.
  • High competencies in efficiency, planning, interpersonal skills, tenacity, and achievement orientation.
