CAREERS AT ENDEAVOUR K9

Kennel Attendant

Endeavour K9 is a professional dog-training, boarding and daycare facility located on 44 private acres in West Montrose, just outside Kitchener-Waterloo.

Our 12,000-square-foot facility was designed to provide dogs with more space, structure and individualized care. We work with everything from puppies and family pets to working breeds, reactive dogs and dogs with more challenging behaviours.

We are passionate about providing safe, professional care and maintaining a clean, structured environment. Our team values accountability, reliability, clear communication and continued learning.

Position Overview

We are looking for an energetic, dependable and hardworking Kennel Attendant to join our team.

If you have professional experience working with dogs, enjoy staying active and want to continue building your animal-care and handling skills, this may be the right opportunity for you.

This is a physically demanding, hands‑on position that includes dog care, cleaning, customer service and assisting with training programs. Every day is different, and no two dogs have the same needs or behaviour.

Growth Opportunities

Team members who demonstrate reliability, professionalism, sound judgement and safe dog‑handling skills may have opportunities to take on additional responsibilities within our daycare, boarding and training programs.

Additional hours may also be available during busy periods and for vacation coverage.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide daily care, including feeding, exercise, medication and behaviour monitoring
  • Safely handle dogs of different breeds, sizes and temperaments, including dogs with behavioural concerns
  • Walk and work with dogs while reinforcing established handling and obedience expectations
  • Supervise structured daycare activities and playgroups
  • Thoroughly clean and disinfect kennels, play areas and common spaces
  • Complete laundry, dishes, garbage removal and general housekeeping
  • Monitor dogs for health or behavioural concerns and communicate observations to staff
  • Maintain accurate feeding, medication, health and behaviour records
  • Assist trainers with dogs enrolled in training programs
  • Provide structured training activities for daycare dogs and boarding dogs with training add‑ons
  • Prepare equipment and assist during group classes when required
  • Welcome clients, assist with check‑ins and check‑outs, and provide professional customer service
  • Follow all health, sanitation and safety procedures
Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Minimum of one year of professional animal‑care experience required

  • Availability for a variety of daytime and evening shifts between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m., including weekends and statutory holidays
  • Comfortable working with dogs of all breeds, sizes and behaviours
  • Willing to use different training and handling tools under staff guidance, including food rewards, slip leads, martingales, prong collars, long lines, Haltis and electronic collars
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Calm, patient and able to follow detailed care and handling instructions
  • Strong communication and time‑management skills

Personal pet ownership or caring for animals belonging to friends and family does not meet the professional‑experience requirement.

Physical Requirements

Applicants must be able to:

  • Lift and carry at least 50 lbs (23 kg)
  • Stand, walk, bend, kneel and squat for most of the shift
  • Remain physically active throughout the entire shiftWork indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
