Job Description

Reporting to the faculty-researcher, the Junior Research Assistant provides support to facilitate the successful execution of research projects as outlined below.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Performs routine data gathering activities as directed by research supervisor or team members.
• Accurately records results, transcriptions, and procedures.
• Assists the research team by recording notes, describing observations, and providing reminders.
• Collects experimental data and software performance metrics.
• Compiles data for reports and presentations.
• Gathers literature or other resources as directed.
• Conveys information about the working environment, including supply levels.
• Operates scientific equipment/software/survey tools under supervision.
• Offers assistance to students with data gathering activities.
• Maintains a safe work environment.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required

Education & Experience

• Completion of at least one year of post-secondary studies related to the field.
• Equivalent education and experience may be considered.

Skills & Abilities

• Research skills related to the field, such as describing, copying, labeling results.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
• Physical ability to perform duties and meet performance standards.
• Proficiency with MS Office, email, and web browsers.

Salary & Benefits

• Salary Range: $25.79 - $28.85 per hour
• Pay Grade: CUPE Paygrade 15
• Scheduled Weekly Hours: 0.35 (hours may vary)
