Job summary

LAPORTE is a Calgary-based consulting engineering firm seeking a Refrigeration Engineer with 1 to 2 years of experience in industrial refrigeration system design and analysis. This hybrid role invites collaboration across food & beverage, pharmaceutical, and biotech process systems.

Reporting to the Lead Engineer, you will design, analyze and implement refrigeration solutions, perform CAD drafting in AutoCAD, and contribute to safety audits, SOPs, and client relationships while traveling as

Qualifications

• Industrial refrigeration design and analysis experience.
• Canadian professional engineering status (P.Eng or EIT) or eligible.
• Familiarity with ammonia and CO2 refrigeration systems.
• Knowledge of refrigeration codes and standards.
• Degree or diploma in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Proficiency with MS Word and Excel.
• Willingness to travel internationally.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, Plant3D, and P&ID is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze refrigeration plants and systems.
• Create CAD drawings of refrigeration schematics and layouts.
• Draft and supervise refrigeration schematics in Revit and/or Plant3D.
• Conduct safety and code compliance audits.
• Develop SOPs, HAZOPs and other safety analyses.
• Perform site inspections of refrigeration systems.
• Write, format and proofread specifications, proposals and reports.
• Organize and maintain project records.
• Provide support and build relationships with clients.
• Collaborate with internal and external teams to ensure project success.
