Job summary

Metrolinx in Toronto is seeking a part-time Junior Analyst to support timetable development and data-driven planning for GO/UP services, under the Senior Rail Operations Advisor.

The role focuses on designing operating schedules, identifying data requirements, conducting data-based analysis, and coordinating documentation for enterprise apps and systems. It emphasizes cross‑department collaboration and timely delivery.

Qualifications

• Completion of a diploma in Planning, Logistics, or a related discipline – or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent.
• Minimum a year of related experience is preferred.
• Experience conducting research and analysis to identify data requirements, data sources, and modeling techniques to facilitate data gathering and analysis.
• Astute attention to detail.
• Knowledge of PowerBI and R is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and implementation of operating schedules, and data packages for GO/UP schedule changes.
• Identify data requirements for analysis, including determining the most appropriate data sources and techniques to facilitate data gathering and analysis.
• Conduct data-based analysis to provide insight on rail performance.
• Help develop documents, processes, and coordinate required activities for all custom-developed apps/systems.
• Participate in team meetings related to timetable development by providing findings and information that will be useful to senior staff in their decision-making process.
• Leverage and maintain internal and inter-departmental relationships to facilitate data gathering and sharing.
• Prepare technical documentation and support analysis, development and testing for enterprise solutions.
• Help develop documents, and the coordination of required activities for all custom-developed apps/systems.

Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. Metrolinx is an agency of the Government of Ontario.

This role is a part-time contract position for an 8-month duration period and will be reporting to the Senior Rail Operations Advisor, Short-Term Planning and Implementation. The Junior Analyst researches and analyzes materials to develop policies and proposals related to transportation planning and corporate innovation.
