Emil Anderson Group in Kelowna is seeking a Junior Project Analyst to support complex job costing and operational accounting across our provincial projects. You’ll partner between Operations, Project Management, and Finance to deliver timely insights and effective financial reporting.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years' experience in project accounting or job costing.
• Knowledge of billing, subcontract compliance, change orders, and holdbacks.
• Ability to analyze variances and communicate findings clearly.
• Strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities.
• Construction or heavy industrial experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure project setups in the ERP system (contracts, change orders, purchase orders, and subcontract compliance) are accurate and align with operational requirements.
• Review project costs, payroll hours and expense classifications ahead of billing cycles to provide financial clarity.
• Prepare job cost adjustments and month-end accruals for timely recognition of costs.
• Coordinate monthly invoicing, progress claims, and holdback processing per contract terms and project schedules.
• Track and manage accounts receivable; conduct billing analysis to support cash flow across projects.
• Build strong working relationships with project teams, accounting, leadership, and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Operations, Accounting, and Project Management to ensure consistency in financial processes.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

The Opportunity

We’re seeking a motivated Junior Project Analyst with experience in complex job costing, and operational accounting who is ready to grow their career. The Junior Project Analyst is a vital link between our Operations, Project Management, and Finance teams. As a key relationship builder, you’ll enable accurate project reporting and empower decision-makers through timely insights, clear communication, and responsive support across the project lifecycle. Success in this role requires a collaborative mindset, approachability, and strong analytical skills.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Ensure project setups in the ERP system—including contracts, change orders, purchase orders, and subcontract compliance—are accurate and align with operational requirements.

• Review project costs, payroll hoursand expense classifications ahead of billing cycles to assist operations with financial clarity.

• Prepare job cost adjustments and month-end accruals to ensure that costs are recognized accurately and in a timely manner.

• Coordinate monthly invoicing, progress claims, and holdback processing in accordance with contract terms and project schedules.

• Track and manage accounts receivable; conductbilling analysis to support cash flow and financial health across projects.

• Build strong working relationships with project teams, accounting, leadership, and external stakeholders (e.g., joint venture partners) to foster transparency and trust.

• Collaborate closely with internal departments (Operations, Accounting, Project Management) to ensure consistency in financial processes and help clarify financial information to non-financial stakeholders.

• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Your Qualifications & Skills

• Minimum of 1-3 years’ experience in project accounting, job costing, cost control, or operational finance—preferably in construction, civil, or heavy industrial settings.

• Strong knowledge of contract requirements for billing, subcontract compliance, change orders, and holdbacks.

• Proficient in financial systems (experience with Vista Viewpoint is a strong asset); familiarity with ERP setups, reporting tools (e.g., Excel advanced features such as PivotTables,Lookups, etc.)

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills. Ability toidentifyvariances, root causes, and to communicate findings clearly.

• Highly organized with strong attention to detail. Able to manage and prioritize multiple competing tasks.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team; strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.

• Post-secondary educationin Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field; or equivalent industry experience.
