About the Role

Steelhaus Technologies is seeking a Junior Production Accountant to join the team to support the cost accounting and inventory control functions. The successful candidate will report directly to the Senior Project (Production) Accountant.

Position Details

• Position Status: Full-Time, Permanent
• Location: Calgary, AB
• Shift: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Duties and Responsibilities

Pre-Production

• Create production orders on the ERP
• Add material codes and bill of materials on the ERP as required for the production orders
• Create purchase orders in line with the engineering drawings

Production

• Post and reconcile all raw material consumption journals
• Work with/train the manufacturing team to improve the accuracy of consumption journal input
• Post internal vendor invoices accurately
• Research and resolve any external vendor invoice discrepancies or issues relating to production orders

Post-Production

• Complete production orders for all products
• Support with the review of Item costing

Month End Tasks

• Prepare inventory reports and reconcile to the GL
• Prepare WIP aged report and reconcile to the GL
• Prepare margin reports for review
• Prepare absorption reclass entries
• Prepare inventory reserve and item write off entries

Other Tasks

• Post all production related internal and external invoices
• Oversee transactions relating to vendor consignment inventory
• Support with the implementation and maintenance of absorption costing
• Complete assigned inventory related month end tasks
• Support with periodic inventory counts
• Support other ad hoc projects or assignments as required

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

• Degree in areas of finance, business, or accounting is an asset
• Minimum 2 years related experience
• Experience working in a fast-paced office environment
• Experience in cost/inventory accounting will be considered an asset
• Strong attention to data entry detail and accuracy
• Highly collaborative and effective team player
