PENN. Penningtons, part of RCL - Reitmans Canada Limited, is seeking a curious Junior Merchandise Buyer to join our Merchandising team.

You’ll help shape product assortments, track trends and support seasonal collections from concept to execution with buying, design and cross‑functional partners. The ideal candidate has at least 1 year in merchandising or a related fashion field, a passion for fashion, strong analytical skills and proficiency with Excel.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of experience in merchandising, buying, product development, retail or similar fashion environment.
• Passion for fashion and curiosity about trends and customers.
• Strong analytical skills and proficiency with Excel and reporting tools.

Responsibilities

• Assist assortment planning, product information, SKU setup and seasonal updates.
• Monitor sales performance and trends to inform buying decisions.
• Research fashion trends, pricing and customer preferences to keep assortments competitive.
• Prepare reports and insights for seasonal reviews and collection planning.
• Collaborate with Merchandising, Design and partners to align product details.
• Follow up on product updates and timelines across the lifecycle.

We’re looking for a curious, detail-oriented and fashion-passionate Junior Merchandise Buyer to join our Merchandising team. In this role, you’ll work closely with Buying, Design and cross-functional partners to help shape and execute our product assortments. From tracking trends and analyzing sales to supporting seasonal collections and keeping product information on point, you’ll get hands‑on exposure to the world of fashion buying. What You’ll Do

• Bring collections to life: Support the buying team with assortment planning, product information, SKU setup, line sheets, sample tracking and seasonal updates.
• Get to know the numbers: Monitor sales performance, product trends and key category indicators to identify opportunities and support smart buying decisions.
• Stay ahead of the trends: Research competitors, fashion trends, pricing and customer preferences to help keep our assortments fresh, relevant and competitive.
• Be part of the buying process: Prepare reports, product insights and analysis for seasonal reviews, assortment discussions and collection planning.
• Connect the dots: Collaborate closely with Merchandising, Design and other partners to ensure product details, samples and seasonal priorities stay aligned.
• Keep things moving: Follow up on product updates, timelines and category priorities to support smooth execution throughout the product lifecycle.

What You Bring

• A college diploma in Fashion Merchandising or a related field.
• At least 1 year of experience in merchandising, buying, product development, retail or a similar fashion environment.
• A passion for fashion, a great sense of style and curiosity about trends, customers and what makes products sell.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and confidence working with Excel, product information and reporting tools.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage priorities, follow up and collaborate across teams.
• A proactive, curious mindset with an eagerness to learn, take initiative and grow within the world of fashion buying.
