Job summary

Ausenco in Vancouver is seeking a Junior Mechanical Engineer to contribute to mining and mineral processing projects. You will prepare specifications, equipment lists, plans and calculations, and support multidisciplinary design teams.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and at least 3 years of experience with an engineering consulting firm, equipment vendors or mining companies. Proficiency in CAD, SmartPlant and MS Office is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of experience with an engineering consulting firm, equipment vendors or mining companies.
• Proficient with MS Office; Excel, Word, Outlook, and MS Project.
• Working knowledge of CAD, SmartPlant, and 3-D software preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong teamwork, collaboration, and ability to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare technical specifications, equipment lists, material lists, drawing lists and files.
• Prepare plans, designs, calculations and cost estimates for conventional engineering, studies and development assignments.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering design with other disciplines to share information.
• Review and advise on technical documents submitted by vendors.
• Deliver mechanical engineering design according to project timeframes and standards.
• Perform hydraulic, piping, tanks sizing calculations, and material selections.
• Guide designers in preparing layouts.
• Assist the drafting division in producing project drawings and reviewing drawings.
