Job summary

BBA Consultants seeks aMechanical Engineer to support project and client development in Sept-Îles, joining a regional team closely linked with offices in Labrador City, Montréal and Mont-Saint-Hilaire. You will survey sites, provide technical assistance to clients, supervise commissioning and participate in studies, detailed engineering and site support.

Ideal candidates hold a mechanical engineering degree and are bilingual; familiarity with heavy industry and CAD tools is a plus.

Qualifications

• University degree in mechanical engineering and professional member (Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec)
• Up to three years of experience or less
• Willingness to travel between Sept-Îles and Labrador City as required
• Available for short-term and long-term assignments with clients in Québec and the rest of Canada
• ASP Construction card
• Strong knowledge of MS Office Suite (Excel)
• Proficient with AutoCAD, SolidWorks and Navisworks
• Experience in heavy industry (mining, petrochemicals, energy) is an asset
• Knowledge of SmartPlant 3D, CADWorx, ANSYS and Fathom is an asset
• Bilingual in English and French is an asset

Responsibilities

• Prepare technical documents for mandates related to heavy mechanics, conveyors, pumping systems, grinding mills and metallurgical processes
• Perform detailed calculations under the supervision of experienced engineers
• Perform onsite technical information surveys
• Prepare material lists and bills of lading in accordance with codes, standards, drawings and procedures
• Assist more experienced personnel with technical aspects of complex tasks
• Coordinate the work of drafters or others at the request of a senior engineer
• Help write technical reports
• Assist the team with technical audits at work sites
• Help supervise the work and commissioning of designed systems
• Help prepare proposals
• Participate in various project phases from studies to site support and commissioning
