Job summary

BBA Consultants is seeking a mechanical engineer to support project and client development across Québec and broader Canada. You will contribute to heavy industry projects, perform calculations, site surveys and document technical work for mining, metals and energy sectors.

Join a close-knit team with regional offices and opportunities for short- and long-term assignments between Sept-Îles and Labrador City. Requires degree and CAD software skills, with bilingual English/French a plus.

Qualifications

• University degree in mechanical engineering and a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec
• Three years of experience or less
• Available for short-term work assignments between Sept-Îles and our Labrador City office, depending on business needs
• Available for short-term (up to 50% of the time) and long-term assignments with our clients in Québec and the rest of Canada
• ASP Construction card
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office Suite and Excel
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, SolidWorks and Navisworks
• Asset: experience in heavy industry (mining, petrochemicals, energy)
• Asset: knowledge of SmartPlant 3D, CADWorx, ANSYS and Fathom
• Asset: bilingual (English and French)

Responsibilities

• Prepare technical documents for mandates related to heavy mechanics, conveyors, pumping systems, grinding mills and metallurgical processes
• Perform detailed calculations under the supervision of experienced engineers
• Perform onsite technical information surveys
• Prepare material lists and bills of lading per codes and procedures
• Assist more experienced personnel with technical aspects of tasks
• Occasionally coordinate the work of drafters or others
• Help write technical reports
• Assist with technical audits at work sites
• Help supervise the work and commissioning of designed systems
• Help prepare proposals
• Participate in various project phases from studies to site support and commissioning

Position Overview

To support project and client development in the Sept-Îles region, BBA is seeking a candidate in mechanical engineering to bolster its local multidisciplinary team. The team works closely with BBA offices in Labrador City, Montréal and Mont-Saint-Hilaire, contributing to regional development and delivering projects in the mining, metals and energy sectors.

Responsibilities

• Prepare technical documents for mandates related to heavy mechanics, conveyors, pumping systems, grinding mills and metallurgical processes, as well as engineering for mechanical services
• Perform detailed calculations under the supervision of experienced engineers
• Perform onsite technical information surveys
• Prepare material lists and bills of lading in accordance with codes, standards, drawings and other established procedures and within BBA’s quality system requirements
• Assist more experienced personnel with the technical aspects of complex tasks
• Occasionally coordinate the work of drafters or others, at the request of a senior engineer
• Help write technical reports
• Assist the team with technical audits at work sites
• Help supervise the work and commissioning of designed systems
• Help prepare proposals
• Participate in various project phases, from studies and detailed engineering to site support and commissioning
