Job summary

Johnson Electric Group in Stratford, Ontario, is seeking a Junior Manufacturing Engineering Specialist to optimize automotive and industrial manufacturing processes onsite. Qualifications

  • Engineering diploma/degree required or equivalent qualification.
  • 2–5 years in a high-speed manufacturing environment (Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering).
  • Experience with APQP practices, PFMEA, and Process Flow Diagrams.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, design, and improve manufacturing processes to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Support development and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in development of new and existing products and processes.
  • Evaluate productivity of processes, equipment, and systems.
  • Participate in RCA and problem-solving investigations.
  • Support machine/layout reviews to improve workflow, ergonomics, and safety.
  • Provide technical support to Operations and Quality teams.

Join Our Team as a Junior Manufacturing Engineering Specialist at Johnson Electric! Location: Stratford, Ontario, Canada (onsite) Salary Range: $70K-76K annually

As our next Junior Manufacturing Engineering Specialist, you’ll be at the forefront of developing, improving, and optimizing manufacturing processes for automotive and industrial components. Your expertise in manufacturing engineering, continuous improvement, and process analysis will be crucial in ensuring products meet quality, cost, safety, and delivery objectives while supporting the successful launch and sustainment of new and existing product lines.

What You’ll Be Doing:
  • Analyze, design, and improve manufacturing processes to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize costs.
  • Support the development and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in the development of new and existing products and manufacturing processes.
  • Evaluate and characterize the productivity of processes, equipment, and manufacturing systems.
  • Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) activities and problem-solving investigations.
  • Support the review and development of machine and equipment layouts to enhance workflow, ergonomics, safety, and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Provide technical support to Operations and Quality teams in resolving manufacturing issues.
  • Develop and maintain process sheets, flow diagrams, PFMEA documentation, and control plans.
  • Ensure manufacturing processes and equipment comply with engineering standards and health and safety requirements.
  • Prepare, revise, and maintain operational documents and technical standards.
  • Support compliance with automotive quality standards, including IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, SPC, and MSA.
  • Support Quality Management System and ISO 9001 requirements.
  • Adhere to Johnson Electric’s quality, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What We’re Looking For:
  • Engineering Diploma or Degree, or equivalent qualification.
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment with a focus on Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Experience or exposure to APQP practices, including Process Flow Diagrams and PFMEA development.
  • Knowledge of quality systems such as IATF 16949, ISO 9000, and ISO 14001.
  • Experience with structured problem-solving methodologies, including 8D and 5 Whys.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and technical specifications.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • High level of integrity, dependability, urgency, and results orientation.
Bonus Points If You Have:
  • Powder Metallurgy Technologist (PMT) Level 1 Certification or are actively pursuing certification.
  • Working knowledge of advanced statistical analysis.
  • Experience using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
  • CNC machining knowledge and related manufacturing experience.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and blueprint reading.
  • Experience supporting automotive manufacturing environments.
