Job summary

Johnson Electric in Mississauga, Ontario, is seeking a Manufacturing Systems Technician to maintain, refurbish, and repair production equipment and facilities onsite. You will support assembly, debugging, installation, and startup of new or modified equipment, applying mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and PLC/CNC control expertise to keep operations safe and productive.

This role requires a skilled trades certificate, at least five years of hands-on CNC and automation experience,

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years of hands-on experience repairing and maintaining CNC machining and automated assembly applications in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control systems.
  • Experience with ISO/IATF 16949 quality standards.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, refurbish, troubleshoot, and repair production equipment and facility systems.
  • Support the mechanical assembly, electrical installation, debugging, installation, and start-up of new or modified production equipment.
  • Collaborate with team members to implement production machinery for new manufacturing projects.
  • Maintain operational quality and efficiency targets.
  • Support equipment maintenance requirements in accordance with ISO/IATF 16949 standards.
  • Maintain strong housekeeping and project organization within the maintenance department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

As our next Manufacturing Systems Technician, you’ll be at the forefront of maintaining, refurbishing, and repairing our production equipment and facilities. You will also support the assembly, debugging, installation, and start-up of new or modified production equipment. Your hands‑on expertise in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control systems will be crucial in maintaining operational quality, efficiency, and manufacturing performance.

What You’ll Be Doing:

What We’re Looking For:
  • Skilled trade certificate of electrician.
  • Minimum of five years of hands‑on experience repairing and maintaining CNC machining and automated assembly applications in a high‑volume manufacturing environment.
  • Hands‑on technical skills in mechanical assembly, machine repair, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, and PLC‑and CNC‑based control and logic systems.
  • Understanding of automotive systems and quality requirements based on QS9000 operating systems.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, conflict‑management, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
Bonus Points If You Have:
  • Welding and basic manual machining skills.
  • Practical experience supporting the installation, debugging, and start‑up of new or modified manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience working within ISO/IATF 16949 equipment‑maintenance requirements.
  • Cross‑functional experience working with Operations, Quality, Engineering, and Maintenance teams.
