Job summary

CIMA+ is hiring for a Structural Engineer in Calgary, Alberta. As part of the Energy & Resources team, you will lead design of industrial structures, perform analyses, and coordinate with multiple disciplines to deliver constructible solutions.

You will work in a hybrid environment, travel for site inspections as needed, and contribute to ongoing project optimization while advancing your professional licensure and career growth with an employee-owned, benefit-rich organization.

Qualifications

• P.Eng. licensed in Alberta with ability to obtain licensure in British Columbia and Saskatchewan.
• Minimum 4 years of structural design and engineering experience.
• Strong background in structural engineering and analysis of various structural systems.
• Proficiency with CSI software SAP2000 and SAFE is essential.
• Experience with IDEA-StatiCa is a strong asset.
• Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design of structural steel, reinforced concrete, foundations, equipment supports, platforms, pipe racks, and other industrial structures.
• Perform structural analysis and prepare design calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
• Design and assess equipment foundations and structures subjected to loads.
• Review vendor drawings and incorporate requirements into designs.
• Coordinate with piping, mechanical, civil, geotechnical, electrical, and other disciplines.
• Conduct site investigations and assess existing structures for modifications or strengthening.
• Provide construction support including RFIs, shop drawings, and field changes.
• Participate in multidisciplinary design reviews and client meetings.
• Manage assigned structural work packages to meet technical, quality, schedule, and budget requirements.
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and contribute to safe, cost-effective solutions.

Job Responsibilities

• Design of structural steel, reinforced concrete, foundations, equipment supports, platforms, pipe racks, and other industrial structures.
• Perform structural analysis and prepare design calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports in accordance with applicable codes and project requirements.
• Design and assess equipment foundations and structures subjected to operational, environmental, and equipment loads.
• Review vendor drawings, equipment loads, design criteria, and technical information and incorporate requirements into structural designs.
• Coordinate with piping, mechanical, civil, geotechnical, electrical, and other disciplines to develop integrated and constructible solutions.
• Perform site investigations and assessments of existing structures and develop recommendations for modifications, rehabilitation, or strengthening.
• Provide construction support, including RFIs, shop drawing reviews, field changes, and resolution of site issues.
• Participate in multidisciplinary design reviews, constructability reviews, and client/project coordination meetings.
• Manage assigned structural work packages to meet technical, quality, schedule, and budget requirements.
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and designers and contribute to the development of safe, practical, and cost-effective structural solutions.

Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) licensed in Alberta, with the ability and willingness to obtain professional engineering licensure in British Columbia and Saskatchewan.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in structural design and engineering.
• Strong background in structural engineering, including the analysis and design of various structural systems.
• Proficiency with CSI software, particularly: SAP2000 (essential) and SAFE (essential)
• Experience with IDEA-StatiCa is considered a strong asset.
• Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Integrity, team spirit, and a commitment to excellence.

Additional Requirements

• Willingness and flexibility to travel and conduct long-distance site inspections, which may extend for one week or longer as required.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams.
