Job summary

Qualifications

  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, Insurance, or a related field.
  • 0–2 years of insurance, claims, risk management, or administrative experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with insurance claims systems or ERP systems is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the administration of the company's insurance programs, including real property, auto, liability, and equipment insurance.
  • Assist with annual insurance renewals by gathering underwriting information and preparing renewal schedules.
  • Reconcile insurance invoices and premiums, ensuring accurate allocation and timely payment.
  • Maintain insurance databases and ensure documentation is complete, organized, and up to date.
  • Prepares insurance allocations and communicates with business units for forecasting and actuals.
  • Upload accruals and journal entries into ERP software for posting.
  • Coordinate with business units to manage insurance renewals and document processes.
  • Liaise with insurance brokers, carriers, adjusters, and internal stakeholders to gather information.
  • Coordinate and assist with tracking insurance claims from initial reporting through resolution.
  • Coordinate with internal teams such as Corp Accounting, Financial Reporting, Legal, HSE, etc.

Black Diamond Group is hiring a full-time position for a Junior Insurance Analyst based out of our Calgary Head Offce.

This role is hybrid - in-office with 20% flexibility to work from home.

Reporting to the SVP, Finance and Treasurer, the Junior Insurance Analyst has an accounting background with 1+ years of experience in accounting. This role is accountable for performing portfolio accounting functions, detailed analysis, reporting, and assisting in budgeting and forecasting.

The ideal candidate is a collaborative, detail-oriented team player who is eager to grow, contribute ideas, and drive innovation and process improvement.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist in the administration of the company's insurance programs, including but not limited to real property, auto, liability, and equipment insurance.
  • Assist with annual insurance renewals by gathering underwriting information and preparing renewal schedules.
  • Reconcile insurance invoices and premiums, ensuring accurate allocation and timely payment.
  • Maintain insurance databases and ensure documentation is complete, organized, and up to date.
  • Prepares insurance allocations and communicates with business units for forecasting and actuals;
  • Upload accruals and journal entries into ERP software for posting.
  • Coordinate with the business units to manage insurance renewals and provide support in documenting Insurance processes and procedures;
  • Liaise with insurance brokers, carriers, adjusters, and internal stakeholders to gather information and support claim investigations.
  • Coordinate and assist with tracking insurance claims from initial reporting through resolution, maintaining accurate claim files and documentation.;
  • Effectively coordinate with internal teams such as Corp Accounting, Financial Reporting, Legal, HSE, etc.
  • The internal point of contact for team members - answering coverage questions, providing COI’s, maintain all documentation, etc.
  • Track and analyze insurance coverage and risk mitigation;
  • Respond to insurance-related inquiries from branch employees, customers, and vendors.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and ad hoc analyses for management;
  • Other duties as required.
Qualifications
