Job Type: Contract position

Position Overview: We are seeking passionate and dedicated educators to join our diverse team for teaching Grades 7, 8, and 9, with specialties in the following subjects :

  • Grade 7 Homeroom Teacher - Math and Science & ELA and Humanities
  • Grade 8 Homeroom Teacher - Math and Science & ELA and Humanities
  • Grade 9 Homeroom Teacher

Note: The position requires a generalist teaching background, with the ability to instruct multiple subject areas in alignment with the Alberta Program of Studies for each grade.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality education tailored to the individual needs and abilities of students, fostering a supportive learning environment, and utilizing various teaching methodologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with the Alberta curriculum and standards.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Create an inclusive classroom environment that promotes inquisitive thinking and self-exploration.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary units and projects.
  • Use effective classroom management techniques to maintain a positive atmosphere.
  • Provide ongoing assessment and feedback to support student growth.
  • Participate in professional development to enhance teaching skills.
  • Build strong partnerships with families, the Sikh temple, and the community to support holistic growth.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate.
  • Bachelor of Education Degree or equivalent recognized by Alberta Education.
  • Understanding of various teaching methodologies and multiple intelligences.
  • Minimum of 1 year of recent Canadian classroom teaching experience.
  • Strong knowledge of the Alberta Program of Studies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Adaptability and flexibility in a diverse teaching environment.
