Job summary

Lakeland Catholic School Division is seeking a Junior High Humanities teacher for Assumption Junior Senior High School in Cold Lake, Alberta. This interim contract role focuses on delivering humanities instruction, fostering literacy, and supporting student growth within a Catholic education framework.

The successful candidate will design lessons aligned with the Alberta curriculum, provide meaningful feedback, and collaborate with staff and families to promote student well-being and achievement.

Qualifications

• A valid Alberta teaching certificate or Letter of Authority by the start of employment.
• Understanding of Alberta curriculum and teaching practices aligned with Alberta's Teaching Quality Standard.
• Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills, with a collaborative approach.
• Commitment to Catholic education, student well-being and ongoing professional growth.
• Experience teaching junior high humanities would be an asset.

Responsibilities

• Design humanities lessons aligned with the Alberta curriculum that invite questions and develop readers, writers, and critical thinkers.
• Use meaningful assessment and feedback to recognize student progress and guide next steps in learning.
• Create a classroom where students belong, adapting instruction to strengths and learning needs.
• Collaborate with colleagues and families to support students and participate in Catholic school life.
