Job summary

Schaeffler Aerospace Canada Inc. is seeking a full-time operator to support heat-treat and manufacturing processes in a clean, climate-controlled environment in Stratford, Ontario. You will handle materials, perform inspections, operate pre-treatment sandblasting and read production prints to ensure quality and efficiency.

Training and advancement opportunities are available. Applicants should have a Grade 12 diploma and mechanical aptitude, with the ability to pass safety assessments.

Responsibilities

• Move materials within the department using manual handling devices and equipment across heat treating, tempering, stress relief and annealing processes.
• Follow department work instructions to perform scheduled operations.
• Perform parts cleaning as required.
• Set up and operate sandblasters for pre-treatment.
• Record data accurately in routers, IMS and other production tracking systems.
• Conduct routine dimensional, hardness and ferromat inspections.
• Troubleshoot issues and take corrective action as per procedures.
• Inspect own work and assist in training other operators.
• May work in other departments or set up machines for others.
• Read and interpret production prints as required by routers.
• Maintain adequate computer skills to access production procedures.
• Maintain 5S and housekeeping in all areas.
• Meet training matrix requirements and keep certifications up to date.
• Adhere to safety requirements including mask/face hair policies.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Manually and as required use material handling devices to move work within the department between various departmental operations including but not limited to heat treating, tempering, stress relief and annealing processes.
• Work in accordance with departmental work instructions to perform scheduled operations as required.
• Perform parts cleaning operations as required.
• Set up and operate sandbasters used for pre-treatment operations.
• Follow and accurately record data as directed or required in routers, IMS and any other production tracking systems.
• Perform routine dimensional, hardness and ferromat inspections.
• Troubleshoot problems as they arise and take the necessary corrective action according to standard departmental procedures.
• Required to perform inspection of own work.
• Required to train other operators as needed.
• May be required to work in other departments or occasionally to set up a machine for others
• Ability to read and interpret production prints as required by routered operation.
• Requires adequate computer skills to access production procedures to perform the required work.
• Responsible for excellent housekeeping and maintaining 5S in all areas.
• Meet the skill requirements identified in the applicable training matrix and maintain certification through company Certified Operator Program.
• Required to follow position responsibilities such as the requirement to remove facial hair for fit-testing and production requirements.
