Job summary

The Government of Nunavut invites applications for a Junior Policy Analyst in the Health department, based in Iqaluit. The role supports policy research and the drafting of Cabinet submissions, reports and directives to align with the department's priorities and the government mandate.

Responsibilities include researching legislation, coordinating appointments, drafting responses, and participating in working groups.

Qualifications

• Diploma in political science, social science, law, public administration, or related field.
• Two (2) years of experience in policy development and analysis, public administration or related field.

Responsibilities

• Analyzing and assessing legislative and policy requirements.
• Researching and analyzing health legislation, policy and strategy from other jurisdictions.
• Following standards and guidelines for developing new and amended policies and legislation.
• Providing departmental staff with information regarding health legislation and policies.
• Supporting and sometimes participating on intradepartmental working groups.
• Providing ATIPP support by participating in receiving, analyzing, distributing and responding to access to information requests for the Department of Health in compliance with the requirements of the ATIPP Act and established procedures, as required.
• Undertaking ATIPP training activities to develop and upgrade ATIPP skills and to stay current with Access to Information and Privacy legislation and regulations.
