Job summary

153 Primoris Mine Services LP (Canada) is seeking a Junior Field Engineer to join the Syncrude Aurora project team. You will provide technical support to the project manager and site superintendent, coordinate subcontractors, manage material coordination, estimating, engineering and project controls activities on site.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or diploma in engineering technology.
  • 0-2 years of experience on industrial construction projects.
  • Basic understanding of Project Controls and Scheduling.
  • Industrial construction experience is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to project teams, including review of client-supplied documentation, calculations, recommendations and interpretation of applicable codes.
  • Liaise with client’s construction management team through RFIs and Change Management documentation.
  • Support Primoris Canada’s Safety Values.
  • Assist with preparation of execution plans, schedules and budget estimates.
  • Assist with preparation of Materials and Subcontractor Requisitions, including specifying the materials or scope of work to be procured and researching approved alternatives.
  • Assist with constructability reviews of future projects.
  • Bid coordination and planning including scope of work for sub-contractors and evaluation of quotations.
  • Assist with receipt, tracking, distribution and maintenance of current project drawings, specs, RFIs and revisions.
  • Identify and track changes in scope and document cost/schedule impacts.
  • Identify and set up pay items and develop WBS with PM team for reporting.
  • Work with project controls to measure and validate field progress and update schedules.
  • Understand project scope and contract overview.
  • Assist with material take-offs from drawings.
  • Assist Quality Control with site inspections, turnover and as-built drawings.
  • Various other duties as requested by management.

Job Overview

SUMMARY The Field Engineer (Junior) is an integral part of the project team responsible for providing technical support to the project manager and site superintendent with Subcontractor coordination, material coordinating, estimating, engineering, and/or project control activities. Location: Syncrude Aurora site Start: TBD - Expression of Interest Shift: TBD - 10/4 or 14/7 Accommodations: Fort McMurray local or Camp provided

Job Duties
  • Provide technical support to project teams, including review of client-supplied documentation, calculations, recommendations and interpretation of applicable codes.
  • Liaise with client’s construction management team through Requests for Information (RFI) and Change Management documentation.
  • Support and uphold Primoris Canada’s Safety Values.
  • Assist with the preparation of execution plans, schedules and budget estimates.
  • Assist with the preparation of Materials and Subcontractor Requisitions, including specifying the materials or scope of work to be procured as well as research approved alternative materials and products.
  • Provide assistance to the Site Superintendent with constructability reviews of future projects.
  • Bid coordination and planning including preparation of scope of work documentation for sub-contractors, evaluation of sub-contractor quotations, and supporting project manager with award of sub-contracts.
  • Assist with the receipt, tracking, distribution and maintenance of current project drawings, specifications, RFIs and revisions in accordance with project document-control procedures.
  • Assist with identifying, documenting and tracking changes in scope, including compiling supporting quantities, records and information for evaluation of cost and schedule impacts.
  • Identify and setup pay items and develop WBS with Project Management Team to align with internal and external reporting requirements and project estimate.
  • Work with project controls to measure and validate field progress on scope and additional work as well as updating project schedule.
  • Understand project scope of work and general overview of project contract.
  • Support with completion of material take-offs from project drawings.
  • Assist Quality Control with site inspections, document turnover, and completion of as-built drawings.
  • Various other duties as requested by management.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or diploma in engineering technology from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • 0-2 years of experience on industrial construction projects
  • Basic understanding of Project Controls and Scheduling
  • Industrial construction experience is considered an asset

  • Proficiency in use of MS Office products
