Job summary

Primoris Canada is seeking a Steamfitter-Pipefitter for pipe connections, hydro-testing, and rigging in both indoor and outdoor settings. The role involves physically demanding work as part of a union position serving major clients in oil, gas, and heavy industry.

Anticipated start is August 24, 2026, at CNRL Horizon Sustaining. 10-day shifts followed by 24 days, with flights from Edmonton/Calgary and camp accommodations available. Hourly rate offered is $53.56.

Qualifications

• Alberta journeyman ticket or equivalent recognized by AIT.
• CSTS-09 and/or CSO required/asset.
• Ability to work effectively in a team.
• Commitment to safety rules and OH&S standards.
• Must be physically able to lift 50 lbs and work in field conditions.

Responsibilities

• Comply with safety rules and OH&S standards.
• Select pipe types and sizes based on blueprints and system operation.
• Construct support hangers and hydraulic cylinders per specs.
• Use pipe bending tools to shape pipe lengths.
• Perform pressure tests and monitor gauges for leaks.
• Ensure pipe holes do not compromise structural integrity.
• Join pipes using threaded, caulked, soldered, brazed, or fused joints.
• Install and maintain pneumatic and hydraulic components of machines.
• Cut pipe with saws and pipe cutting machines.
• Secure pipes with brackets, clamps, and hangars.
• Attend safety meetings and tailgate/toolbox talks.
• May perform other duties as assigned by supervision.

Primoris Canada is an infrastructure contractor serving major firms in the oil, gas, power, petrochemical, and heavy oil industries and include services covering tailings and hydro-transport pipeline construction and maintenance, storage tank construction and maintenance, industrial facilities multi-discipline construction and maintenance, piping fabrication, and pipeline integrity services.

Summary

The Steamfitter-Pipefitter is involved in connecting pipe, hydro-testing, and rigging. This work may exist indoors or outdoors depending on the scope and is typically physically demanding.

UNION POSITION

Job Duties

• Comply with Company and Client Safety rules, as well as OH&S standards
• Select type of pipe, size of pipe, and systems by applying knowledge of system operation and following blueprints
• Construct support hangers and hydraulic cylinders according to specifications
• Utilize pipe bending tools or machines to bend pipe
• Perform pressure tests by increasing pressure in pipe systems and observing pressure gauges to test for leaks
• Ensure that holes cut in pipe will not cause structural weakness
• Connect pipe utilizing threaded, caulked, soldered, brazed, or fused joints and hand tools
• Install and maintain pneumatic and hydraulic components of machines and equipment, such as pumps and cylinders
• Cut pipe utilizing saws, pipe cutting machines, cutting torch, etc.
• Secure pipe with brackets, clamps, and hangars
• Attend required safety and tailgate/toolbox meetings
• May perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Must be an Alberta ticketed journeyman (or hold a journeyman certificate recognized by AIT) CSTS-09 and/or CSO
• H2S considered an asset
• Able to work well in a team environment
• Must be physically able to lift 50lbs and climb in/under units in the field
• Organized and self-motivated
• Pre-employment alcohol and drug testing is a condition of employment
