Job summary

PGL Environmental Consultants is seeking a Junior Environmental Consultant to join our team in Vancouver or Langley, BC. The role offers a 37.5-hour work week with option to work from home or in the office as needed.

Responsibilities include soil and groundwater sampling, drilling investigations, site remediation, budgeting, reporting and client support. Travel to project sites and field supervision are expected as you progress.

Qualifications

  • Valid Driver’s license.
  • Ability to travel to project sites, including remote locations in BC.
  • Proficient with computers and MS Office; EsDat is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Soil, groundwater, surface water and soil vapour sampling.
  • Drilling investigations (Phase II ESAs) and site remediation.
  • Budgeting and reporting on projects.
  • Reviewing policies and systems; supporting corporate initiatives.
  • Progression towards supervising field work and reporting to clients.

PGL Environmental Consultants’ is seeking aJunior Environmental Consultantto join our team in Vancouver or Langley, BC. PGL employees work a 37.5-hour work week, and all employees have the option to work from home or from the office as when needed.

Responsibilities
  • Soil, groundwater, surface water, and soil vapour sampling;
  • Drilling investigations (Phase II ESAs);
  • Site remediation;
  • Budgeting, reporting;
  • Reviewing policies and systems; and
  • Contributing to PGL’s corporate initiatives.

As training progresses, you will be expected to supervise remediation and drilling contractors. Hands on experience in the field will progress towards project management, directing others in the field and preparing reports. As your career develops, report writing, and client contact will become an important component of the position. Ideally, we are seeking candidates with strong people skills and the ability to work in a team environment. Interest in gaining consulting experience is required.

Job Requirements
  • Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in Engineering(chemical, geological, geotechnical, environmental), Geology, Soil Science, Environmental Science, related engineering discipline or Toxicology.
  • 1 - 2 years of consulting experience with exposure to contaminated site assessments.
  • Ability to register as a professional (in-training)in the Province of BC is an asset (EIT, GIT, AAG. etc.).
  • Experience working on job sites (including but not limited to construction sites, gas stations, around traffic and heavy equipment).
  • Experience with sampling environmental media including soil, groundwater and/or soil vapour.
  • Ability to complete occasional out of town field work. Typically a few days at a time and more rarely up to a few weeks.
  • Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office suite products. Knowledge of EsDat is an asset but not a requirement.
  • Excellent internal and external client service skills.
  • Valid Driver’s license required.
  • Ability to travel and work in potentially remote locations, generally in the province of BC.
  • Ability to work hours based on project requirements.
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment and materials weighing up to 25 lbs. for short durations.
