Job summary

PGL Environmental Consultants’ seeks a Junior Environmental Consultant to join our team in Vancouver or Langley, BC. The role offers a 37.5-hour work week with the option to work from home or from the office as needed.

Responsibilities include soil, groundwater, surface water sampling, drilling investigations, site remediation, budgeting, and reporting. You’ll build field and report-writing skills, advance toward project management, and engage with clients and contractors.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in Engineering (chemical, geological, geotechnical, environmental), Geology, Soil Science, Environmental Science, related engineering discipline or Toxicology.
  • 1–2 years of consulting experience with exposure to contaminated site assessments.
  • Ability to register as a professional (in-training) in the Province of BC is an asset.
  • Experience on job sites (construction, gas stations, traffic, heavy equipment).
  • Experience with sampling environmental media (soil, groundwater, soil vapour).
  • Occasional out-of-town field work; some trips may last a few days to weeks.
  • Proficient with computers and MS Office; EsDat knowledge is an asset.
  • Excellent internal and external client service skills.
  • Valid Driver’s license required.
  • Ability to travel and work in remote locations, mainly BC.
  • Ability to adjust hours per project needs.
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 25 lbs.

PGL Environmental Consultants’ is seeking a Junior Environmental Consultant to join our team in Vancouver or Langley, BC. PGL employees work a 37.5-hour work week, and all employees have the option to work from home or from the office as when needed.

Responsibilities
  • Soil, groundwater, surface water, and soil vapour sampling;
  • Drilling investigations (Phase II ESAs);
  • Site remediation;
  • Budgeting, reporting;
  • Reviewing policies and systems; and
  • Contributing to PGL’s corporate initiatives.

As training progresses, you will be expected to supervise remediation and drilling contractors. Hands on experience in the field will progress towards project management, directing others in the field and preparing reports. As your career develops, report writing, and client contact will become an important component of the position. Ideally, we are seeking candidates with strong people skills and the ability to work in a team environment. Interest in gaining consulting experience is required.

Job Requirements
  • Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in Engineering(chemical, geological, geotechnical, environmental), Geology, Soil Science, Environmental Science, related engineering discipline or Toxicology.
  • 1 - 2 years of consulting experience with exposure to contaminated site assessments.
  • Ability to register as a professional (in-training) in the Province of BC is an asset (EIT, GIT, AAG. etc.).
  • Experience working on job sites (including but not limited to construction sites, gas stations, around traffic and heavy equipment).
  • Experience with sampling environmental media including soil, groundwater and/or soil vapour.
  • Ability to complete occasional out of town field work. Typically a few days at a time and more rarely up to a few weeks.
  • Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office suite products. Knowledge of EsDat is an asset but not a requirement.
  • Excellent internal and external client service skills.
  • Valid Driver’s license required.
  • Ability to travel and work in potentially remote locations, generally in the province of BC.
  • Ability to work hours based on project requirements.
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment and materials weighing up to 25 lbs. for short durations.
