Jobtailor in Canada’s Capitale-Nationale, Quebec is seeking an Electrical Engineer to design electrical and electronic circuits for new products and to participate in component selection, prototype development, and testing. You will collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software teams in a manufacturing environment.

The role involves developing prototype circuits, creating robust design documentation, and supporting pre-certification activities (UL, CE).

Qualifications

  • Requires active or eligible OIQ membership.
  • Fluent in French and English, both written and spoken.
  • Experience with product certification (UL, CE) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design electrical and electronic circuits for new products.
  • Participate in selection of electrical/electronic components.
  • Develop and assemble prototype circuits using microcontrollers.
  • Develop test plans and participate in commissioning of electronic circuits.
  • Participate in design reviews and maintain up-to-date design documentation.
  • Design products with manufacturing facility capabilities in mind (DFM).
  • Conduct pre-certification testing and support product certification (UL, CE).
  • Provide second-level technical support to the technical services team for electrical/electronic issues.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in mechanical, electrical, and programming.
  • Participate in all development stages from technology exploration through production launch.
  • Work under senior engineer guidance during design reviews, component selection, and testing.

Job description

  • Design electrical and electronic circuits for new products
  • Participate in the selection of electrical/electronic components
  • Develop and assemble prototype circuits using microcontrollers
  • Develop test plans and participate in the commissioning of electronic circuits
  • Participate in design reviews
  • Prepare and maintain up-to-date design documentation
  • Design products while considering the capabilities and constraints of the manufacturing facility (DFM)
  • Conduct pre-certification testing and support product certification (UL, CE)
  • Provide second-level technical support to the technical services team for electrical/electronic issues
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and programming
  • Participate in all stages of development, from technology exploration through production launch
  • Work under the guidance of a senior engineer during design reviews, component selection, and testing
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (completed or in progress)
  • 0-3 years of relevant experience (internships and academic projects count)
  • Member of the OIQ, or eligible and committed to becoming a member
  • Proficiency in French and English, both spoken and written
  • Curiosity, thoroughness, and a desire to learn in a real-world manufacturing environment
  • Assets include: knowledge of Altium software
  • Assets include: exposure to microcontrollers and microprocessors
  • Assets include: experience with product certification (UL, CE)
