Job summary

Element Event Solutions in Vancouver is seeking a Junior Driver to support the Logistics team with safe and efficient delivery, pickup, loading, and unloading of furniture and event equipment. This role focuses on developing driving and event logistics skills under guidance from experienced Drivers and the Logistics team.

You will support local deliveries and event setups, follow floor plans and job instructions, and develop proficiency in the safe operation of company vehicles while providing

Qualifications

• Previous exposure to events, hospitality or related industries is advantageous.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean abstract within 30 days.
• Familiarity with local venues such as hotels and convention centers.
• Airbrake endorsement a bonus.
• Moving experience in residential or commercial settings is valued.
• Ability to lift/carry items up to 50 lbs and wear CSA approved steel-toe shoes.
• CSA approved safety footwear required for on-site work.

Responsibilities

• Driving & Deliveries: Safely operate assigned company vehicles and complete local deliveries and pickups according to procedures and directions.
• Loading & Unloading: Assist with safe loading/unloading of furniture and event equipment.
• Event Setup & Strike: Support on-site event setups and strikes per floor plans.
• Safe Work Practices: Follow safe driving, handling and on-site procedures at all times.
• Vehicle & Equipment Care: Assist with basic vehicle inspections and report concerns to supervision.
• Client Service: Maintain a professional and courteous approach with clients and venues.
• Teamwork & Communication: Follow instructions and communicate delays or issues promptly.
• Product Care: Handle items with care; assist with basic cleaning when required.
• Learning & Development: Build knowledge of vehicles, routes, and event logistics.
• Other Duties: Perform additional duties as assigned.

Position Summary

As a Junior Driver, you will support the Logistics team with safe and efficient delivery, pickup, loading, and unloading furniture and event equipment. This role is focused on developing driving and event logistics skills while working under the guidance of experienced Drivers and the Logistics team.

You will support local deliveries and event setups, follow floor plans and job instructions, and develop proficiency in the safe operation of company vehicles while providing reliable and professional service.

Key Responsibilities

• Driving & Deliveries: Safely operate assigned company vehicles and complete local deliveries and pickups in accordance with company procedures and direction from the Logistics team.
• Loading & Unloading: Assist with the safe loading and unloading of furniture and event equipment, ensuring products are handled carefully and securely.
• Event Setup & Strike: Support on-site event setups and strikes, including placing and removing furniture and equipment according to instructions and floor plans.
• Safe Work Practices: Follow safe driving, loading/unloading, material handling, and on-site work procedures at all times.
• Vehicle & Equipment Care: Assist with basic vehicle inspections and report any vehicle, equipment, inventory, or safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
• Client Service: Maintain a professional and courteous approach when interacting with clients, venues, and other members of the public.
• Teamwork & Communication: Follow instructions from Drivers, crew leads, and the Logistics team and communicate any delays, issues, or concerns promptly.
• Product Care: Handle furniture and event equipment with care and assist with basic cleaning or spot-cleaning when required.
• Learning & Development: Develop knowledge of company vehicles, local routes and venues, event logistics procedures, and safe equipment handling.
• Other Duties: Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Industry Experience: Previous exposure to the special events, film, trade show, or hospitality industries will be advantageous.
• Driving Credentials: Hold a valid Class 5 driver’s license, with a clean driver's abstract dated within the last 30 days.
• Local Knowledge: Familiarity with local venues, including hotels, convention centers, and loading docks, will be an added advantage.
• Additional Certifications: Possession of an Airbrake Endorsement certification will be considered a bonus.
• Moving Experience: Previous involvement as a residential or commercial mover will be highly valued.
• Physical Fitness: Possess excellent physical capabilities, allowing you to lift or carry items up to 50lbs effortlessly.
• Safety Gear: Own CSA approved steel toe shoes/boots to ensure personal safety during operations.

Working Conditions:

• May be exposed to changing weather conditions, including rain, heat, and cold.
• Required to travel frequently to various event locations. This may involve long hours on the road and navigating different routes, sometimes in unfamiliar areas.
• Physical work involving frequent lifting, bending, and standing.
