Job summary

BGIS in Markham, ON, is seeking a Junior Drawing & Occupancy Technologist to support intermediate and senior team members in producing architectural, structural, electrical and mechanical drawings and to assist with the Drawing & Occupancy tool for our client base.

This role requires a community college diploma or equivalent, 1–3 years of experience, CAD proficiency (AutoCAD 2022+), and familiarity with Autodesk Vault, Revit or MicroStation.

Qualifications

• Minimum education: Community college diploma or equivalent training (e.g. RPA, CET).
• More than one year up to three years of job-related experience.
• Knowledge of CAD drawings and ability to integrate CAD with facility management software.
• Demonstrated software or programming skills in AutoCAD 2022 or newer version.

Responsibilities

• Complete drawings as per occupancy policies and procedures; sustain filing and drawing management protocols.
• Updates of day-to-day client requests and deliverables reflecting onsite condition changes; verify input with field visits.
• Meet project commitments related to time constraints and KPI quality expectations.
• Seek continuous improvement opportunities; stay current with technology and training requirements.
• Escalate issues to Senior Technologist or Manager when required.
• Develop internal relationships and maintain effective communications.
• Provide feedback on continuous improvement activities to BGIS success.

The Junior Drawing & Occupancy Technologist provides support to intermediate and senior team members to execute deliverables and day to day work requests as assigned. Areas of responsibility include creation and maintenance of drawings (architectural, structural, electrical and mechanical) and support of Drawing & Occupancy tool for client base as required.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Complete drawings as per occupancy policies and procedures; sustain filing and drawing management protocols.

Drawing & Occupancy Tool

• Completes updates of day to day client requests and deliverables as assigned that reflect additions and changes of onsite conditions; ensure accuracy of input by undertaking verification activities with other personnel or by field visit.

Project Support

• Work to meet project commitments related to time constraints on deliverables and quality expectations (KPI's).
• Seek continuous improvement opportunities that improve efficiency, benefit clients and other team members; keep abreast of technology changes and training requirements related to the role.
• Ensure internal escalation of issues or potential risks are raised to Senior Technologist or Manager where required.
• Develop internal relationships and ensure appropriate communications/support is maintained.
• Provide feedback on effective and proactive continuous improvement activities to contribute to BGIS success.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

MINIMUM EDUCATION:Community college diploma or equivalent training (e.g. RPA, CET).

JOB-RELATED EXPERIENCE:More than one year up to three years.

• Knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of particular field of specialization.
• Possesses and applies comprehensive knowledge of particular field of specialization to the completion, overview, and management of complex assignments.
• Minimum education: College Diploma - Technician (architectural, structural, electrical, or mechanical).
• Demonstrated ability to work with CAD drawings and integrate it with other facility management software.
• Demonstrated software or programming skills in AutoCAD 20 22 or newer version.
• Knowledge of architectural drawings and furniture is an asset.
• Knowledge of structural, electrical or mechanical drawings is preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of Autodesk Vault Professional 2026 is preferred.
• Knowledge of Serraview is preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of Revit &/or Microstation is preferred.
• Strong comprehension of industry standards, details and specifications.
• Software proficiencies related to the assignment – MS Excel, Word, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, etc. with ability to quickly learn new applications.
• Effective interpersonal skills, especially communication (verbal / written).
• Planning and organizing skills.
• Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proactive and self-driven.
• Strong organizational, documentation and training skills.

Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation

• Driver’s License.
• Autodesk, BOMA certifications would be considered an asset.

This is a regular, full-time position with a salary range of $47,118 - $58,897 per annum. The starting salary will be based on the successful candidate’s competencies, including but not limited to experience, education and performance related to this role.
