Job Description: Data Scientist
We are seeking a skilled Data Scientist to lead analytics initiatives and support evidence-based decision-making within our organization. The role involves developing analytics, working with stakeholders, and creating models to extract insights from complex data sets.
- Lead the development and delivery of functional and ministry-specific analytics to support evidence-based decision-making and produce actionable insights.
- Collaborate with client groups to assess current data analytics capabilities, gather future requirements, and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Manage analytics projects from end to end, including reporting and data set delivery.
- Develop statistical models and machine learning algorithms to analyze business scenarios and derive valid inferences.
- Participate in documentation, development, testing, and end-user training.
- Work with experts and stakeholders to understand complex issues and develop Business Intelligence solutions.
- Design methods for data capture, transformation, and processing to support modeling.
- Build accurate, understandable, and unbiased data models.
- Communicate complex analyses clearly, using visuals and summaries.
- Interpret data insights and advise stakeholders on transforming analytics into actionable information.

Junior Data Scientist Responsibilities
- Assess datasets from various sources, including land-use, child care, and education data.
- Identify and document dataset gaps and resolution steps.
- Develop reports and visualizations using tools like GIS, Tableau, PowerBI.
- Conduct historical and predictive analytics on relational datasets.
- Document findings and report to the team.
- Work effectively in an agile, iterative environment.
Skills and Tools
- Experience integrating R scripts into Microsoft Power BI.
- Experience with predictive analytics and building dimensional data cubes.
Additional Requirements
Tools and Techniques (50%)
- Expertise in MS analytical products, especially Excel and data validation.
- Experience with SQL databases, data standards, and data cleaning.
- Knowledge of dimensional data models and statistical modeling using R.
- Experience with visualization tools like R Shiny, SAS, Python, Esri/ArcGIS, PowerBI, Cognos.
Power BI and Analytics (25%)
- Experience developing BI resources and visualizing data.
- Ability to create interactive visuals and understand data models.
