Junior CNC Milling Machinist

Position Summary:

We are currently recruiting Junior CNC Milling Machinists (Operators) to join our team in Calgary, AB at our Calgary 8 facility. The Junior CNC Milling Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining a variety of machines within the Machine Shop.

Schedules

Evenings: Mon to Wed - 3pm to 1:30am, and Thu 3pm to 1am.

Weekends: Fri to Sun OR Sat to Mon - 6am to 6pm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • This position demonstrates safe working practices in the machining, fabrication and modification of aeronautical components
  • Responsible for setting up, operating and maintaining a variety of machines including computer numerically controlled (CNC) machines to perform precision machining operations such as sawing, turning, milling, boring, drilling, and other operations
  • Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments
  • Machining airframe components per specifications and blueprints
  • Responsibility to be the first line of resolution for problem solving
  • Opportunities to receive mentorship from Senior Machinists
  • Opportunities for continuous learning and developing knowledge of machining, equipment, and tooling concepts in manufacturing

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in CNC Milling Machining as a Machinist; Year 1 to 4 apprenticeship would be considered an asset
  • You must be a resident of, or willing to relocate to the Calgary, AB area
  • Understanding of CNC programs and G-code
  • Ability to translate the requirements of detailed part drawings into measurements for part verification
  • Ability to perform daily, weekly & monthly maintenance on equipment
  • Critical thinking skills and strong attention to detail
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and are a team player
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Please note that this is a unionized position – wages will be determined by qualifications and competencies required as outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
