Job summary

Aplin Martin in Oakville is seeking a Junior Civil Engineering Designer to support multi-disciplinary land development and municipal projects. You will prepare detailed design drawings primarily using Civil 3D and related tools, and assist in coordinating design within a multidisciplinary team.

The role offers a path for growth, with exposure to road design, grading, water resources, and contract document preparation, in a collaborative office environment with strong mentorship.

Qualifications

• A Civil Engineering Degree from an Accredited Institution.
• 1-2 years of land development and/or municipal design experience.
• Relevant internships.
• Experience in commercial, subdivisions and Site Plan Design.
• Strong work ethic and motivation to succeed.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and must be well organized to prioritize multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed design drawings (primarily using Civil 3D) for land development and municipal projects.
• Preparing road design and final grading for urban residential development projects.
• Developing engineering drawings and designs for land development and water resources projects.
• Coordinating design with consultant team including architect, landscape architect, mechanical, electrical, and others.
• Prepare contract documents for project tendering and execute project design drawings.
• Prepare functional servicing and stormwater management reports as required.

Position Overview

An opportunity currently exists in ourOakvilleoffice for a Junior CivilEngineeringDesigner.The successful candidate(s) willbe requiredto prepare construction drawings/documents,assistin the coordination of design and specifications within the context of a multidisciplinary design team.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed design drawings (primarily using Civil 3D, and related applications) for a variety of assignedLand Development and Municipalengineering projects.
• Preparing road design and final grading for urban residential development projects.
• Developing engineering drawings and designs for land development and related water resources projects.
• Participating in full-service design of Civil/Municipal engineering projects
• Stormwater management,sitegrading, sanitary sewer and water distribution system design for subdivision and land development engineering projects
• Interpret topographic informationrequiredfor design.
• Performsiteandlotgrading.
• Complete the technical analysis of municipal infrastructure components.
• Prepare quantity take-offs and cost estimates.
• Compile as-built records for design and record drawings; and
• Prepare contract documents for project tendering and execute project design drawings.
• Prepare grading, servicing, erosion and sediment control plans, details, and technical drawings in AutoCAD Civil 3D for municipal infrastructure, land development, and site developmental projects.
• Prepare Functional Servicing and Stormwater Management Reports in support of Zoning By-law Amendment andSitePlan Application.
• Prepare water/wastewater servicing calculations for proposed land development projects.
• Prepare stormwater management quantity and quality calculations.
• Coordinate design with consultant team including but not limitedto:architect, landscape architect, mechanical engineer, electrical engineer, traffic consultant, hydrogeologist, and geotechnical engineer.
• Prepare formal response letters to approving agencies addressing development engineering comments.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $65,000 to $80,000 per year, commensurate with experience, skillsets, and qualifications.
