Job summary

Magellan Aerospace, Winnipeg has an exciting opportunity for a full-time permanent Entry-Level Chemist to join our team at the Rockwood Propellant Plant, located just 20 minutes north of Winnipeg. You will develop and maintain analytical methods, perform analyses, and contribute to R&D efforts to improve materials and processes.

The role requires a BSc in Chemistry; manufacturing experience and propellant formulations knowledge are assets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment is an asset.
• Experience in solid propellant formulations and explosive manufacturing is an asset.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Developing and maintaining standards and procedures for analytical methodologies and techniques using standard quality control to computerized instrumentation.
• Performing quantitative and qualitative analyses to determine chemical and physical properties for all related inorganic and organic raw materials and formulations.
• Assisting in originating and evaluating new R & D programs, materials and processes.
• Liaising with external technical agencies, suppliers and customers or internal support groups to improve or resolve problems related to materials, processes and formulations, and their associated instrumentation and testing.
• Providing guidance and assistance to other chemists and technologists.
• Managing energetic and inert formulations to ensure product compliance with specifications.
