Job summary

HTS Controls Group in Ottawa is seeking aJunior BAS Technician to work under the Project Manager on commissioning HVAC mechanical systems and their BAS for new construction and retrofit projects. You will also assist the service team with ongoing site maintenance and ensure thorough documentation.

Ideal candidates will be bilingual in English and French, possess knowledge of HVAC mechanical and electrical systems, have strong documentation/communication skills, and hold a valid driver’s license

Qualifications

• Under supervision, you will conduct and document site commissioning of BAS for new construction and retrofit projects.
• Assist service team with ongoing site maintenance.
• Maintain safety and documentation standards on job sites.
• Coordinate work with other trades and provide recommendations for improvements.

Responsibilities

• Completes maintenance, repair, setup, commissioning, and diagnostics of BAS systems.
• Troubleshoots low voltage electrical, communication wiring, hardware installation and configuration, DDC programming and general system performance issues.
• Keeps Senior Technician and/or Project Manager informed of job progress and issues.
• Submits completed maintenance, repair and commissioning documentation.
• Adheres to HTS and job site safety standards and procedures.
• Performs site-specific training for owner/operator on systems.
• Coordinates work with other job site trades.

Building automation systems (BAS) are a vital part in achieving net zero buildings. These sophisticated systems are necessary to achieve LEED certification and meeting environmental goals. The HTS Controls Group is seeking an enthusiastic, hard-working Junior BAS Technician who will work under the direction of the Project Manager based in our Ottawa Office. Under the guidance of the Senior BAS Technician, you will conduct and document job site commissioning of HVAC mechanical systems and their associated BAS for new construction and retrofit projects. You will also be asked to help support our service team for ongoing site maintenance.

Responsibilities:

• Completes the maintenance, repair, setup, detailed commissioning, and system diagnostics of BAS systems.
• Troubleshoots low voltage electrical, communication wiring, hardware installation and configuration, DDC programming and general system performance issues.
• Keeps Senior Technician and/or Project Manager informed of job progress and issues.
• Submits completed maintenance, repair and commissioning documentation.
• Adheres to HTS and job site safety standards and procedures.
• Performs site-specific training for owner/operator on systems.

Skills/Qualifications:

• Bilingualism French and English would be a strong asset.
• Knowledge of HVAC mechanical and electrical systems would be a strong asset.

• Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Self-motivated learner.
• Must possess a valid Driver’s license in good standing.
• Hold or be able to obtain a Secret security clearance.
• Controls Systems degree or equivalent education.

Salary: $26-$36 per hour
