Job description

Videoconferencing systems, digital signage solutions, video walls, streaming, split-meeting room configurations are just a few of our services, which can be a little daunting for businesses to figure out what it is exactly they need and want. That is where Matrix comes in.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a Junior AV Installer to perform AV installation. Tasks include pulling cable, installing connectors, terminating cable ends, mounting speakers, projectors and screens.
This is a Junior Installer position and will be based out of our Calgary branch, applicants with all levels of experience may apply.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Work under guidance from Senior and Lead technicians on AV projects
  2. Perform cable pulls, solder, crimp and terminate audio, video and network cables
  3. Hang monitors, projectors, mics, speakers on wall and ceiling using anchors, Unistrut and mounts (guidance/training provided)
  4. Review Bill of Materials, Drawings, Project Scope and prepare for site activities
  5. Read and interpret electronic schematics and architectural blueprints
  6. Load and unload AV equipment at shop and worksite
  7. Occasionally work overtime as needed (time in lieu) to meet promises to clients
  8. Must be willing to work out of town, overnight travel may be required from time to time

Preferred Skills and Abilities:

  1. Must be organized and detail oriented
  2. Ability to work and think independently to meet deadlines
  3. Ability to operate hand and power tools (drill)
  4. Knowledge of low voltage systems and signal flow for audio, video and control
  5. Troubleshooting, quality checks, servicing abilities, problem solving abilities
  6. Must be able to lift 50lbs and work on ladders and lifts

Education and/or Experience:

  1. Any education in Electronics or related field preferred
  2. Any Networking/IT background preferred

Safety:

  1. Bondable, clean driving record
  2. Must be able to lift 50lbs and work on ladders and lifts
  3. Any trade certifications are an asset: WHMIS, fall arrest, scissor lift and other safety Certifications
